Going nuts about Macadamia at Haagen-Dazs

The fickle weather hints at the onset of the rainy season but every once in a while, the sun emerges from the clouds and the weather turns sunny and hot. Make that uncomfortably, very humid, hot. Seems to us that summer is still here and holding. What a time for happyfoodies to be given an opportunity to sample Haagen-Dazs’ nutty creations.

We were offered three preparations to sample (many thanks to Haagen-Dazs Philippines and especially the SM Megamall crew) – the Macadamia Nut Delight, Hawaiian Macadamia Crunch, and the Macadamia Nut Cake. Imagine the velvety, creamy goodness that Haagen-Dazs is known for. Mix it with Macadamia nuts. Voila, you have the perfect recipe for going nuts.

But at times when you just want to reward yourself with true, premium exquisite flavors and creaminess, Haagen-Dazs is known to deliver the quality you pay for. And with the addition of Macadamia variants, the choices become more delightfully exciting. I love chocolates so I tried the Macadamia Nut and Belgian Chocolate with crunchy wafer stick on cone. While I had my dose of the choco flavor, the Belgian chocolate flavor overwhelms the nutty flavor, but pairing it with the wafer stick adds a nice crunchy texture.

Picture this: a tall parfait glass is laden with crushed sweet cones at the bottom then stacked with Macadamia Brittle Ice Cream, then stacked with Macadamia Nut Ice Cream, then topped with soft and buttery caramel sauce. I liked the combination of the two ice cream flavors, tasting a bit similar to but also different from each other.

  1. I always choose fat free ice cream when buying so I don’t know if I had these before. But I’m nutty so I’m sure these are just right for my palate.

  2. hi photocache, i don’t eat ice cream that often so i indulge in the non-fat-free version 😀 anyway, the macadamia ice cream at haagen-dazs are really a treat.
