Known for their hearty fresh salads, wraps and tasty yet nutritious snacks, SaladStop! launched their “Eat Wide Awake Movement” with activities running throughout the month to encourage people to go on a healthy diet and proper fitness. New offerings are also introduced in their menu.

This plato-shaped bread with a variety of choice for filling is one of my go to snacks when I see one. My staple orders would be the Yummy Tuna, Beef Gyro and Chunky Chicken on on pesto wrap. Other choices are Very Veggie, Wrap and Roll Dog as well as Ham and Cheese. After 16 years in the business, the family-owned venture adds a couple more flavors: the Peri-peri Latino Wrap and Crabby Rappu.
The first time I tasted the signature Gringo flame-grilled dishes, the Original Chicken, Southern Spice and Baby Back Ribs, I knew their distinct char-broiled goodness would become a local favorite. Together with their sauces, Lemon Herb and Hot and Spicy, and the sumptuous sidings, Gringo offers great value for their Mexican-Latin cuisine offering. BGC will now enjoy 60 years of ramen-making heritage from Fukuoka, Japan as Uma Uma Ramen opens its doors at Uptown Parade. The contemporary-casual ramen restaurant made quite a first impression at SM MOA with its family recipe noodle and MSG-free yet robust-flavored Tonkotsu stock. It is the first time for happyfoodies to zip in at Uma Uma Ramen. Excited to try out the current favorites like the Uma Uma Ramen and Tan Tan Men as well as the new fusion of local flavor twist Aligue Ramen.
A haven for surfers to chill and listen to some bands and electronic music play. Surf Shack is inspired by the stoked lifestyle as evidenced from the many surfboards adorning the walls. Surfing photos in action and portraits almost filling up one side of the wall. Surf Shack is also home to local cocktails, craft beers and fusion pizza.
With a witty play of words on the Filipino term kubo, Cube-O Grill (pronounce as kub-o) is a native style, open-air restaurant mostly made mostly of beautiful hardwood materials. The restaurant serves Filipino cuisine. Their staple Cube-O Salo-salo platter has grilled goodies, beer food, vegetables and three kinds of rice (garlic anchovy, java and plain rice). A set meal best served to a group of friends and family coming from an exhilarating surf session or coming back from a trek at Tangadan Falls in La Union.

An exciting local venture opens in the fast developing neighborhood of Orambo, Pasig. Oppa Chicken Portico brings its unique variety of Korean Chicken flavors. And this time hoping to export the brand internationally from Manila. It was a year ago when we were introduced to the one-of-a-kind toast from Cafe Shibuya. Their 2 1/2 inch thick rectangular bread toast were not only sumptuous but has a pleasant interplay of flavors. With the colder season coming, who wouldn’t yearn for a good toast along with afternoon coffee? It’s also a good time to try Cafe Shibuya’s new offerings, the Salted Egg and Green Tea Lava Toast. Now, there’s even more variety of toasts that people can enjoy in the cafe.
