Cafe Shibuya Salted Egg and Green Tea Lava Toast

It was a year ago when we were introduced to the one-of-a-kind toast from Cafe Shibuya. Their 2  1/2 inch thick rectangular bread toast were not only sumptuous but has a pleasant interplay of flavors. With the colder season coming, who wouldn’t yearn for a good toast along with afternoon coffee?  It’s also a good time to try Cafe Shibuya’s new offerings, the Salted Egg and Green Tea Lava Toast.   Now, there’s even more variety of toasts that people can enjoy in the cafe.

Ironwulf: I decided to have a good cup of hot Amerikano coffee to go with my toast. The Salted Egg Lava Toast looks plain. The squarish bread comes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and bits of streusels. The signature pleasant crunch and firm soft bread inside are still there. The creamy salted egg filling oozes out from the center. I like the simplicity of the flavor — distinct layer of subtle saltiness and a slight layer of sweetness. It’s a great toast for people looking for something light and less overwhelming.

Lagalog: While I liked the Salted Egg Toast, the Green Tea Lava Toast comes with a twist — a sprinkling of green tea on top which melds nicely with the sweetness of the vanilla ice cream and streusels.  The presentation is always spot-on as with the consistency of the product — very soft inside with a crunch on the outside.  It’s very filling so make room for it.  Best enjoyed with your favorite cup of coffee.
