Located right next to the Starbucks in Cash and Carry in Makati City, Contessa Dolce provides an interesting counterpoint to the coffee chain behemoth’s offerings — good, old-fashioned, freshly-milled (strong) brewed Arabic coffee and pastries that hit the sweet spot without going overboard on the sweetness.
The pastries selection varies depending on the time of the year (strawberry confections during the height of strawberry season), availability of ingredients, and most probably, the whim of the baker but most are really good. Just one nitpick though: a particular cake may be on the display shelf but not available for order on a per slice basis. Anyway, the prices are very reasonable, much like having coffee in one of those popular doughnut and coffee chains.
If you’re a sweet-toothed foodie like us with a bias for pastries with a more fine-tuned level of sweetness, maybe it’s time you give Contessa Dolce a taste drive.
