Isla Casoy de Palawan: Cashew infused Drinks and Goodies

The whole region of Palawan has cashew trees in abundance. Even in El Nido where I stayed for a while has people freely picking out fruits of these trees by the roadside. It is no surprise Isla Casoy de Palawan, a humble cafe at Mercado de San Miguel in Puerto Princesa has a menu offering based on the local favorite Casoy or cashew nut. It has become a favorite stop for me in the city not only for pasalubongs (take-home presents) but also its cashew-infused meals and drinks.

Cashew Goodness

The interiors is really basic and can be improved but the seats and tables are comfortable enough for a stay. There’s a couch on a corner where I usually set up my laptop to work. They also have decent wifi connection if needed.

The first beverage I tried is their popular Butter Latte (P130), a thick, creamy and smooth cashew butter flavored drink almost bordering on chocolatey while still having some coffee flavor. It’s so good I’m sure most people would like it the first time. Even their simple cashew-infused Brewed Coffee (P88) has hints of nuttiness.

For treats I tried their Casoy Sansrival (P75) since I’m a fan of sansrival. I enjoyed the buttery and crispy layers as well as the crunchy bits of casoy on top. There are also shreds of what seemed to be dark chocolate and light caramel for a little sweetness.

They also serve rice meals and pastas but I only got to try one of their sandwiches, the BLTC (Bacon Lettuce Tomatoes Cheese) Sandwhich (P100) with chips on the side. The vegetables were fresh, the bread was the wheat kind and the bacon strips were cooked to a crips which I prefer.

I really like Isla Casoy de Palawan. They may not have the best ambiance for a cafe but they have good casoy-infused meals and drinks with prices that are just right for the quality. They also have pasalubong treats.  Whenever I go home from Puerto Princesa, I always try to buy a bottle or two of their Casoy Butter which is priced P200 only. Check them out when in Puerto Princesa.
