It’s refreshing to know that in the age of processed and fast-food meals, there are still alternative dining places that offer “clean” food with recipes stripped off of preservatives and chemicals that could harm our bodies in the long term. Coming off from another revitalizing yoga session from Life Yoga, I ventured to the adjoining cafe Vibe Superfood. Just a cursory look at their menu and reading witty, music-inspired names of the dishes instantly put me in a good mood. I placed an order for their Curry Me Away (a song from the Doobie Brothers) and Matcha-Twenty (from the band Matchbox Twenty) and got excited for the treats to come.
Get Into the Vibe Superfood
I’ve been going to Vibe Cafe in the recent past as I occasionally attend the yoga classes at Life. The somewhat retro-pop artsy interiors have always captured my attention. With the infusion of superfoods into their menu, what used to be Vibe Cafe is now transformed into Vibe Superfood, Don’t be intimidated by the often lithe and limber majority of people who hangout occasionally at the cafe after their yoga sessions though; Vibe Superfood is for everyone who wants to eat healthy and get started on a clean eating habit.
Superfoods are nutrient-dense foods like malunggay, acai berry, turmeric, chia, matcha and beets that are rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Vibe Superfood creatively and beautifully infused a new set of nutritious meals into their menu. While I heavily enjoyed the spicy curry kick of my 3-mushroom veggie dish Curry Me Away (Php 260) these new offerings will surely supercharge your active lifestyle.
Nutrient-packed Menu
Last October 13, 2016, Vibe Superfood introduced us to their new superfood menu. While the photos here are not the actual serving sizes, they were more than enough for us to sample the dishes. We started with the protein-packed Salmon Like You (Php 200) sandwich, simple but rocks enough to make you belt out like Adele.
Their Pesto-mania (Php 230) is a different take on pesto without using any nuts making the malunggay-based pesto with parmesan, chicken and whole wheat pasta smooth-tasting.
The red-sauce based Bologneezy (Php 280) knocked the breeze out of me with its perky sourness which I instantly enjoyed at first taste. Not to mention the three kinds of mushroom and tomatoes that went along with it.
There’s also the cool, refreshing and coconutty Berry Good Parfait (Php 240) loaded with chia seeds, coconut, matcha, cacao nibs, berries, banana, mango and a dollop of honey for that added sweetness.
Shape-Up Beverages
Of course these meals wouldn’t be complete without some refreshments on the side. We tried a couple of smoothies. I like the velvety blend of the mango, banana, melon and yogurt with the Yo-yo Ma (Php 200). The Green Day (Php 200) has that standout tanginess probably from the pineapple mixed with malunggay, banana, pandan and honey.
For a little dose of coffee, we had the Pink Me Up (Php 170), a cold brew with acai berry, beet, soy milk and coco milk.
If you’re feeling a little sleepy in the afternoon, I suggest grabbing a bottle of Play Immunity Shot (Php 80). A shot is guaranteed to jolt you up with its intense ginger and fruity flavor.
Vibe Superfood certainly cooked up a lot of guilt-free goodness. There’s a lot more to try and even customize meals and drinks. With add-ons like flax seed, hemp hearts, goji berries, camu camu berries, spirulina, bee pollen, maca and wheatgrass, customers can try designing designing their own meals to fit their healthy and active lifestyle.
