The "Goddess of Food",
Ogetsu Hime
is offering their Best of Japan selection for a
Special Half Price
until the 16th of November 2014. Ogetsu Hime is found at the Skypark of SM Aura Premier. It's hard not to miss its warm cozy interiors and the sushi bar easily seen by the entrance. Upon entering, the restaurant is spacious with teppanyaki stations at the center while the sukiyaki-ready tables on the sides. Happyfoodies got to sample the selection of half-priced offerings and more.
It became my temporary office in Bontoc. The cozy sofa and chairs, the tasteful interiors heavy on the travel theme coupled with beautiful photos of the rice terraces and people of the Cordilleras is truly inviting. My almost weeklong stay in Bontoc finds me at
Goldfish Cafe
catching up on work and the online world. For Bontoc standards,
Goldfish Cafe
is the fanciest cafe in town. For a town whose local coffee culture is quite predominant already how does Goldfish Cafe's specialty coffee offerings fare?
As repeat visitors to Sagada, we at Happyfoodies were both overjoyed and saddened during our recent visit. Saddened because a)
Misty Lodge's restaurant
is closed as Chef Bogan is attending to her mommy duties in Manila, b)
Masferre Restaurant
has taken off our favorite Kamatis Bagoong at Lechon Kawali in favor of a menu more oriented towards foreign guests. But on a bright note, we chanced upon a new, welcome addition to the eateries lining the town's main street:
Sagada Brew
. It was actually the recommendation of Wanda, our kind hostess at Rock Inn Farm, to try out the new place (talk about very friendly competition). It was also a blessing to come on an off-peak season when a lot of eating places are closed for repairs, which helped directed our feet to this shop.
It's always nice to discover non-commercial establishments run by young entrepreneurs hoping to make it big in the food business. One such establishment in the heart of Pasig is
Buffalo Swing
. This family-ran hole-in-the-wall resto has been serving excellent buffalo wings and more for more than two years already. Enjoyed mostly by nearby residences like the Riverfront and offices in Ortigas, people who knew about
Buffalo Swing
may have kept the existence of this wonderful little resto to enjoy it for themselves. But something this good would likely be known in the foodie world eventually. Join happyfoodies with guest foodie Jen as we sample their house specialties.
Dalampasigan
, a tagalog word which means "seashore" and it was something I was expecting to find when we arrived at
Kainan sa Dalampasigan
in Nasugbu, Batangas. There was no seashore nor a view of the sea but we weren't disappointed. Instead, we found a gem of a restaurant, like a secret garden, breezy and exuding with Filipino hospitality and charm.
Known mostly as a transit town and a gateway to the 8th wonder of the world,
Nueva Vizcaya
is now making a mark with its ever-growing attractions and development. My last visit to the province surprised me with world-class dining restaurants that offered exciting exotic delicacies. Nueva Vizcaya definitely deserves a stop or even an overnight stay just to try out these exciting Nueva Vizcaya eats.
The land-locked province of Nueva Vizcaya is agriculturally rich and nature still thriving in this part of Luzon. The land abundant with natural resources is also reflected in their native cuisines. From my recent visit, I wasn't surprised to see a few bugs on their table but these are cooked and ready to eat. Not something I would see every day. If one wants to try these dishes, we visited
All Day Exotic
, a resto-bar offering exotic cuisines in their menu every day.
