Don’t chicken out! Especially when the newest Mexican-Latin flame-grilled chicken specialty restaurant, Gringo Chicken Ribs Friends, invades SM The Block. I recently got a chance to sample their main entree when they sent some goodie boxes to my office – one each of the Gringo Original Chicken, Southern Spice Chicken and the Baby Back Ribs. I can imagine the look of delight on my face as I opened the boxes must’ve looked a lot like the charming grin of the Gringo mascot character on the company’s logo. Each dish is paired with its own set of garlic rice, nachos, mushrooms and special sauces.
Both chicken variants may look charred from the outside but their flavors are far from tasting burnt. The Gringo Original Chicken has rich Mexican spices oozing from the skin right down to the meat and a hint of smoky flavor. The Southern Spice Chicken on the other hand, ups the heat a bit combined with an interplay of Latin flavors with every bite. All my officemates raved about the Baby Back Ribs and its fall-off-the-bone goodness. It’s not overly sweet with a delectable Mexican-style BBQ flavor. The two sauces that came with it, one tangy and another aromatic, only accentuated the already appetizing taste.
Well, if these are just a sampling of what to savor at Gringo Chicken Ribs Friends, I’m definitely looking forward to visiting their restaurant at the Block to try their nachos and other offerings.
