American comfort food and retro ambience come in leaps and bounds once I entered Johnny Rockets in Libis. Oh yeah, the dancing crew has some moves to the tunes of early 90’s and 80’s music. I think I counted more than four dance routines they have. But when the music tones down its really all about the food. I remember enjoying Johnny Rocket’s Philly Steak and of course, their milkshakes. So I was curious to try their new Lobster Wagyu Burger and Wasabi Milkshake. One of a kind offerings that would surely delight pique interest for a food lover like me.
Wine dining at Nectar Restaurant — Wine not?
The last time Happyfoodies attended a lunchtime wine tasting event, we left the venue slightly inebriated. As we boarded the lift with some editors, we seem to share a collective feeling of being primed for taking an afternoon nap and foregoing the tasks reserved for the afternoon. When we set our appointment with Nectar Restaurant in Makati for some lunchtime wine and food tasting, we thought history might repeat itself. Happily, with a bit more restraint, it did not. Oh, we’re not big wine drinkers, certainly no connoisseurs, but the concept of promoting a more democratic wine dining tradition sounded very interesting and too good to pass up.
A Different Kind of Goodness with Jollibee’s Hash Brown Burgers
Two potatoes emitting electricity, a yummy block of cheese every mouse would envy, a toy cow bag and a travel scale? I could understand the Travel scale but what’s with the rest of the clues? Well today Jollibee was able to shed light on the mystery as we dined in found out what goodies Jollibee was cooking up. Well combine all those elements in the clue is one yummy experiment up their sleeves. It’s the new Jollibee Hash Brown Burger.
Healthy Burgers at Good Burgers
I have always known burgers as sort of a junk food especially on fast food restaurants. They are fatty and chock-full of cholesterol. It’s a good thing while I was wandering around our neighborhood in Pasig with guest foodie friend and travel writer, Jen, to find some good eats, we found Good Burgers along C5 road just opposite SM Hypermart. Good Burgers has been around for quite a while serving healthy vegetarian burgers. On their glass counter they banner that they are one of the very few PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) Proggy Awardee in the country for having the “Best Veggie Burger” . Now it’s definitely worth a try.
Upbeat at Offbeat
It literally takes a lot of guts (pun intended) to call your shop, “Offbeat,” when you’re located at The Collective in Makati City which is an art-meets-commerce kind of space, and adjectives like ‘quirky’ and ‘unusual’ are terms shared by all the shops. Short of offering bizarre food, how can Offbeat, The Wieneke Kitchen be true to its name? That we intended to find out for ourselves.
Food tripping in Sagada
Much has been written about Sagada and its natural wonders that attract trekkers, spelunkers and other adventurous spirits. But to the foodie, Sagada is more than that. there’s another side to this so-called Shangri-la of the north, a more flavorful one that will appeal to the adventurous foodie.
