Resto Surabaya
Lucky Plaza is said to be dominated by the Filipino crowd, but in a hidden corner of this mall one can find a really good Indonesian restaurant called Resto Surabaya. It has simple interiors with earth colors and a comfortable dining area. The Ayam Penyet (Surabya style Fried Chicken) was tasty at every level from skin to meat, especially with a dip in the chili spice.
Rawon (Dried Beef in Kaluwak Soup) looks unpleasant with meat swimming in the dark brown soup. But it's surprisingly delicious with the meat really tender and flavorful. And all of these viands goes well with the well balanced coconut flavor of Nasi Undak (Rice spiced with Coconut Milk). Definitely one of my favorite eats.

Va Va Voom
A lot of Vietnamese restaurants has been a hit or miss for me. Maybe because I've eaten in a lot of nice ones in Vietnam making my judgment slightly biased. This chic small restaurant doesn't look Vietnamese at all but one look at their menu and you know you're in for a Vietnamese treat. They have a Hue Spicy Beef reminiscent of what I had during breakfast in Vietnam along with the locals on the streets.

Deli Moroccan
It's sad I just discovered the charming Arab Street on my last day in Singapore, more so the Deli Moroccan restaurant there. It has a Time Out Guides stamp of approval and I certainly agree with them. The Moroccan Beef Kebab I ordered is really good. It has playful layers of spices on the meat. The fries were mediocre but the Moroccan Apple Juice which seemed to have a mixture of cinnamon and yogurt was refreshing.

Erich's Wuerstelstand
It seems out of place and strange to find Austrian Style grilled sausages on a street of China Town. But the sausages are cheap and really tasty while the mashed potatoes are full-bodied. Great value for those looking for a snack after a long walk around China Town.
