Herencia Cafe: Ilocano Fusion Cuisine at its Finest

Herencia Cafe Langonisa Pizza To say I love Ilocano Food is an understatement, believe it or not, Ilocos is one of the regions in the country where the food excites me as much as the sights it have. On the second to the last day of our Lakbay Norte 2 tour, we ventured to Herencia Cafe, just in front of the magnificent UNESCO world heritage site of San Agustin Church in Paoay. Such a perfect spot where we not only get to see a stunning heritage, we also get to enjoy the culinary heritage of Ilocos.

Adams Exotic Delicacies

Adams Ants and Ant Eggs Real good food with the absence of impurities and natural is done by going back to nature. In my recent Tour with Lakbay Norte 2, we visited the isolated forest town of Adams in Ilocos Norte. After our hike to visit Anuplig falls, we had a late lunch where they served us meals which they consider organic. It’s those simple dishes with ingredients freshly hand picked from their surroundings which made them good on their own.

Good Food and Good Vibes at Kapuluan Vista Resort

Kapuluan Papas Burritos What happens if a young surfer couple decides to build a resort, stumble upon this beautiful spot in the middle of nowhere at Maira-ira Cove, constructs a tastefully east-meets-west design structure, serve food with ingredients freshly picked from their garden and then regale you with stories in upbeat fashion? That’s Kapuluan Vista Resort for you. We drove hours under the stormy weather during the Lakbay Norte 2 and was glad to find this warm and comfortable place for the night just in time for dinner.

Refreshing Eats and Views at Robinson’s Veranda (Part 2 of 2)

Veranda hyphy's Continuing from where we left off, our next stop at Robinson’s Veranda is Hyphy’s by Chef Bruce Lim. It’s one of the notable restaurants in the Veranda Row especially for it’s laid back and casual feel. Hyphy’s serves dishes chef Bruce grew up with, which is Filipino Food with at San Francisco. The Cobb Salad (P260)was a good start with its finely grilled chicken strips along the vegetable salad. But the most memorable on the table was the Bangus Steak. The large de-boned milkfish was pan fried evenly and that special sauce was short of addicting. It became the favorite on the table.

Refreshing Eats and Views at Robinson’s Veranda (Part 1 of 2)

Veranda Delicious Kitchen Honestly speaking, I’m more of a hole-in-the wall and hidden nook type of person when it comes to eatery and try to steer clear of the malls as they tend to be too commercial. But of course there are always room for exception especially if the establishment have something unique to offer. Besides, nothing beats the comfort and accessibility of malls. Robinson’s Galleria, which is like a neighbor to me being only 15minutes ride away from home, opened up their new Veranda section and we get to try their numerous restaurants in the row.

Healthy Burgers at Good Burgers

Good Burgers Margherita Burger I have always known burgers as sort of a junk food especially on fast food restaurants. They are fatty and chock-full of cholesterol. It’s a good thing while I was wandering around our neighborhood in Pasig with guest foodie friend and travel writer, Jen, to find some good eats, we found Good Burgers along C5 road just opposite SM Hypermart. Good Burgers has been around for quite a while serving healthy vegetarian burgers. On their glass counter they banner that they are one of the very few PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) Proggy Awardee in the country for having the “Best Veggie Burger” . Now it’s definitely worth a try.
